Home Made Magic Trick with a Match Box to Illustrate Following Gods Instructions

Age: children (but could be redone to work for teens or adults)
Prep Time: (Once you make the necessary things to do illusion) A few seconds to set up
Cost: Whatever it costs you to print off bag and glue it together and get two small match boxes

I used this illusion this previous Sunday During Children's time.
There are many different applications with this illusion. One way I used it is I told the children to follow the instructions on the front of the bag (preparing the bag and matchbox beforehand like shown in the video) After each step I followed it exactly like Julian does in the video until the end when Julian flips the bag over to show the picture of a girl or a plate of fish ...Instead I put a picture of the bible on the back and talked about Gods instructions he gives us...the bible.

(Most of the time the kids are curious about what happened...That's where the bible picture comes into play and help tie things together for the lesson.)

Lesson:

Kevin:
You did a great job at following the instructions that were on the bag but...You know what?  God gives  us instructions every day!
Can you tell me a few? (get a few examples from the children...don't lie, don't steal etc...)

Kevin:
Psalm 119:11 says
 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Kevin:
One of the ways we grow in our walk with God is following what Gods word says. So reading the bible and memorizing Gods word and applying it to our lives allows us to become more and more like who God wants us to be. But we must remember that the bible not a rule book! It is Gods Word!
